An affair of the heart - "The Change Chocolate"
The launch of "The Change Chocolate" was the most successful product launch of any Fairtrade chocolate. In Dezember 2018, Stiftung Warentest crowned "The Change Chocolate" as the best milk chocolates compared to the 25 others. The award-winning flavour is „intensively creamy“ and is full of "vanilla, caramel and nuts“. But most importantly: The Change Chocolate is made how children think, every product should be made – fairtrade-certified and climate neutral
Invented by children: the most successful Fairtrade chocolate of all time
Everything started with a presentation in school. In 2007, Felix, who was 9 years old at that time, talked about the climate crisis in his class. At the end he said "Let’s plant one million trees in every country on earth" - the launch of a world-wide kids initiative.
The idea of Felix Finkbeiner goes even further. He wanted to include the chocolate industry and appealed to the producers of chocolate. They should donate 0,01 percent of their sales as „Future Fee“ to Plant-for-the-Planet. Nobody replied, so in 2010, Felix put his own chocolate on the market, with the help of the self-found Foundation Plant-for-the-Planet.
Something good, piece by piece
20 Cent of the price go directly to the reforestation project in Mexico. Plant-for-the-Planet plants a tree for every 5 bars sold on the Yucatán-Peninsula. So far, 13 million bars have been sold, which means 3 million trees were planted (Updated 15.12.18). With 10 Cent, Plant-for-the-Planet trains more children to be Climate Justice Ambassadors, the rest goes into climate-neutral production, in fair payment of the producers and climate-friendly logistics.
