100,000 trees thanks to chocolate
The lakes, mountains and forests that surround us here in Moorenweis at our location are our home. We are also happy that we can enjoy the recreation in nature in our free time. Therefore it is very important to us to preserve it as good as possible. Already more than a year ago we decided to support the children and youth initiative Plant-for-the-Planet. The good chocolate that we have been successfully carrying in our assortment since then is the product of Plant-for-the-Planet. And it's also a really "good" one, as evidenced by the award from Stiftung Warentest (12/2018 issue) for best milk chocolate. And what is the "good" thing about chocolate? For every 5 chocolate bars sold, a new tree is planted in the Plant-for-the-Planet planting area. And in the meantime that has grown to more than 100,000 trees.
The number of trees planted by us can be seen online on the Trillion Tree Campaign website or in the Plant-for-the-Planet app. Every quarter the number is adjusted in our MAGNA Sweets profile - currently there are 100,419 trees planted. And there are more to come.
The trees have been planted on the planting area on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula since March 2015. The employees of Plant-for-the-Planet select the best seeds there by hand. A mixture of different native woods is planted, such as American mahogany, almond trees, various precious woods as well as fruit trees.
Plant-for-the-Planet is a children and youth initiative. The children and youth are within the initiative, the ambassadors for climate justice. In their own academies, they advocate and support the basic idea of Plant-for-the-Planet, for example with their own "planting campaigns".
